Year 4 & 5
Welcome to Ruma Ruru.
We are a group of 22 eager Year 4 & 5 students beginning our transition towards the senior learning area at Te Pahu School.
The school values of Manaakitanga (I am respectful), Kaitiakitanga (I am a guardian), Hauora (I am kind, healthy and unique), Whanaungatanga (I belong) and Wairua Auaha (I have a passion to learn) are integrated throughout all of our learning. We daily explore reading, writing and mathematics together through a mix of literacy & mathematics games, direct & indirect teaching and various practical activities. During each term of learning we focus on another learning area (such as science or The Arts) in more depth, but do try to cover all learning areas regularly.
In our learning space we value collaboration, integrity and choice. Our Tikanga, which is about how we approach and do things together in Ruru is: We …
- Are Proud.
- Use our manners.
- Are prepared.
- Show respect.
- Have empathy.
- Talk with each other.
- Self-regulate ourselves.
- Justify and own our choices.
I am passionate about supporting these learners academically, as well as their overall physical and emotional well being. We would welcome you joining us in our journey together.
